Frankie´s Bio

Click on this video to see him as we saw him that first day in the Inca Dog Pound in Mallorca.  We fell for his blue eyes that pleaded with us for help.

Date of Birth:   Late December 2010
Gender:  Male
Breed Type:  Pit Bull Terrier

Weight:  15 Kgs at 5 Jan 2012, now 20 Kgs

Background: Frankie´s background is unknown.  He was found wandering in Inca town in November 2011 and taken to the local dog pound to wait for his owner to step forward and claim him, or to face euthanasia if no owner appeared. Frankie was not microchipped so tracing a previous owner was impossible.

Frankie was spotted by us on a visit to the Dog Pound on 8 Dec 2011 and we decided to help him by bringing him back to health and finding him the home he deserves.

Features:  Frankie is medium height, with muscular solid build - typical of his breed - with a square jaw and attractive white blaze down his forehead to nose.  Devoid of hair due to chronic mange when we found him, he now has a glorious coat, stripey grey/brindle colour with white markings and a white tip to his long tail.  His eyes are a striking pale blue and his ears are floppy.

Character: Despite his size, Frankie is a bit of a lap dog, enjoying nothing better than climbing onto a free lap or into a chair!  He likes all people and greets everyone enthusiastically. Now that his health has improved and his confidence grows, he is always on the go and is boisterously playful with people and other dogs so will benefit from an experienced dog owner who will give him plenty of exercise, boundaries and tenderness.  He is young and puppy-like in character, needs dedicated training to allow him to grow in a good pet.  He loves food and treats - eats anything all the time! -  so has proven easily trainable at basic obedience.
Location: Foster home in Consell (as from Mon, 23 Jan).

Health:  Very poor at 5 Jan 2012, but improving.  Frankie was diagnosed with demodectic mange that stripped him of his coat.  His general health was compromised because of his mange and he was also suffering from a cough, and secondary bacterial infections through scratching.  A long course of anti-biotics and mange treatment has brought him back to fitness.  Awaiting a final skin scrape to confirm status of demodex.

Neutered: Yes, on 18 Jan 2012.

Vaccinated:  Rabies only, administered as standard procedure on release from Dog Pound.  He will be fully vaccinated when his health improves.

Microchipped:  Yes, chipped on release from Dog Pound.
