About Frankie

New Year 2012: Rescued in poor condition in December, our hope is to bring Frankie back to health and find him the good home he deserves. With your help we can.

Scroll down to see Frankie´s progress from an unwanted, mangy dog in a pound, to a happier and healthier one in foster care, initially with Cornelia, and now with Sherry.

8 Dec 2011 : The day we first noticed him at the Inca Dog Pound.
Frankie turned his incredibly blue eyes to us and pleaded for help!
Apart from his face, mange has robbed him of hair and his skin is raw.  Left untreated, his mange became worse during his incarceration at the pound, and by the time we were able to release him, his whole body, including his face, had worsened.  He was in a sorry, swollen state!

21 Dec 2011 : At Comarcal Vet Hospital in Inca following release from the Pound
Frankie didn´t look back as we left the pound.  Surprisingly he jumped unaided into the back of Sherry´s car for his trip to hospital where his inflamed skin and general health is assessed for the first time.

3 Jan 2012 : At play in his foster home with Cornelia near Inca.  Here he is able to romp and play with other dogs, and at last lead the life that has eluded him so far.  His skin is getting better, but it´s still very red and obviously itchy.

He has a long way to go before his skin is back to normal and his hair starts regrowing, but frequent baths at Comarcal Vet and other medications have helped ease the pain - it shows in his renewed playfulness.  Foster mum Cornelia says "Sky is happiest when he´s at the vet meeting people and other dogs, he loves it there".  He´s spent a lot of time there and vet Magdalena Vanrell has nothing but glowing praise about his affability.  Vet Magdalena and her team gave Frankie his name.

Bath time!  Initially Frankie went daily to the vets for a bath, but from mid January he´s on weekly baths - and enjoys the attention.

Enjoying snooze time in the warm kitchen in a much-chewed armchair.  The redness is fading and hair is sprouting.  He´s put on a lot of weight, now around 20 Kgs.  He is now a much more playful pup, enjoying romps in the garden.  Time to start thinking about some training to harness that youthful spirit and turn him into the best pet he can be.  Think I need to get some help!
